Dentex Double Giman

The Double Giman system is a new system which allows you to use two 16 mm bands on the Dentex speargun.
The design comes from the need to make the gun more powerful without damaging its hydrodynamic profile.
In most cases, the presence of two bands in the same hole causes them to overlap, the head is too large because of the big hole and the adjacent part of the body gets modified. This heavily compromises transverse movements and ease of handling.

In the Double Giman system, one 16 mm band runs in the head of the gun, and two bands, tied by means of a dyneema tying, are inserted in a small brass hole placed at a distance of 10 cm from the head hole and at a higher position with respect to the first diagonal band. The two bands, therefore, run one above the other, without overlapping, and the overall volume remains the same as that of a single band.

Furthermore, the additional band works with a reduced inclination with respect to the barrel. In this way, losses of power, which may derive from a too transversal thrust with respect to the horizontal stroke, are avoided.
The installation of the additional band may seem complex and precarious, but the opposite is true as it is easy and safe. The two pieces of band are tied together by a 2 mm dyneema thread, which runs in the small noose already made inside each piece of band - the noose in the band and the tying at the end of the cone-shaped part of the band do not need to be changed, since they are not subject to wear and tear; on the other hand, the dyneema thread can be substituted easily and quickly by simply tying a knot on each noose.
In order to make the loading easier, I have adopted a shaft with pins. The additional band is loaded first, at the first notch; then the main band is loaded at the second notch, by placing it temporarily at the first notch to reduce the effort.

The sea tests showed that Dentex Double Giman preserves the hydrodynamic qualities of the single band Dentex. You do not almost realize you are using a double band gun. This, I think, is of utmost importance to fish in seas where powerful, quick, easy to move and to handle guns are needed to follow and aim fish which is getting more and more distrustful, 'experienced' and quicker. The Dentex Double Giman shoot - with a 6.5 shaft - is lightening, powerful and precise. The recoil is cushioned thanks to the tested Dentex design. Furthermore, to have a better grip on the handle, it is possible to make a comfortable left and right handle, a design used in 2002 in the first Dentex prototype.
The Dentex gun with Double Giman system becomes, then, two guns in one, because, by taking out the additional bands, the speargun can be used with a 19 mm main band. In this way, different fishing requirements and personal preferences can be met. Furthermore, the balancing system of the gun allows you to set the gun according to the gear.
The mechanism of line release works perfectly with two line turns. The Double Giman system is made on 100 and 110 size.
